How Do I Become A Member?

To Become A Member of Christ of the Hills UMC

We receive members in the following ways:

  • Profession of Faith and Baptism:  This is for persons who have never professed faith publicly and been baptized.
  • Profession of Faith and Confirmation:  This is for persons who were baptized as an infant, but were never confirmed in the faith.
  • By Transfer from Another United Methodist Church:  This is for persons who belong to another United Methodist Church and desire their membership transferred to our church.  The membership secretary writes a letter to the pastor of the church where the person belongs, requesting the transfer.
  • By Transfer from Another Denomination:  This is for persons who belong to another body of God's family.  We United Methodists do not rebaptize a person coming from another denomination.  The membership secretary writes a letter to the pastor of the church where the person belongs, informing the pastor of the transfer.
  • By Statement:  This is for persons who have been baptized and belonged to another church, but aren't sure the record of their baptism and membership still exists.  Church records may have been destroyed or the church has ceased to be active.
  • By Reinstatement:  This is for persons who withdrew their membership from a church, or were notified their membership was removed from a church roll.

If you have further questions about joining Christ of the Hills, or if you are interested in becoming a member of the church, talk with one of the pastors. The telephone number at the church is (501)922-4503.

We Have A Life-Changing Story To Tell

The members of Christ of the Hills love to tell the story of God's love in Jesus Christ.

We tell the story in different ways.

  • Some tell it with words; others tell it on a mission trip.
  • Some tell it with music; others tell it by visiting the sick.
  • Some tell it by making blankets for needy children; others tell it by making caps and blankets for those with cancer.
  • Some tell it by taking meals to homebound persons; others tell it by participating in a Bible study or some other study.
  • Some tell it by serving on a council, committee; others tell it by serving as an acolytes, usher, greeter or by serving punch and cookies.
  • Some tell it by serving as a Stephen Minister; others tell it by taking Holy Communion to a homebound person.
  • Some tell it by volunteering at the Rice Depot; others tell it volunteering at the Methodist Outreach Center.

We all tell it in worship, in Bible study and in so many other ways.  We serve in many ways to glorify Christ and thank him for what he has given us and done for us.

In telling the story of God's love in Jesus Christ, we become connected to God and others in meaningful ways.  The relationships we realize give life special meaning to life.

We invite others, in Christ's name, to become our fellow faith-pilgrims.  Come and worship with us; come and participate in the many ministries our church offers.  If, after looking at us and our devotion to Jesus Christ, you want to join our church, we will welcome you as a member.
